Il Dispaccio: storie dalla terza isola. How do you do independent journalism in Calabria?
Guests: Cecilia Anesi in conversation with Claudio Cordova
Meeting with the author and journalist Claudio Cordova on the work of Il Dispaccio, independent journalism, sources, storytelling about local territories and building an independent narrative against dominant representations.
Il Dispaccio: storie dalla terza isola brings together two experiences that share an essential question: how do you build journalism that stays independent, verifiable and rooted in its territory? Claudio Cordova brings the experience of Il Dispaccio, an online daily founded in Reggio Calabria in 2012 and built over time as an independent publishing project; Cecilia Sofia Anesi brings the perspective gained with IRPI and IrpiMedia in building investigations, journalistic networks and models able to sustain investigative work. The conversation covers sources, method, sustainability, pressure, responsibility and the relationship with local communities, focusing on what a journalistic project needs in order to last, produce knowledge and keep its editorial freedom.
Malacarne una saga criminale – new release presentation
Guests: Claudio Cordova in conversation with Cecilia Anesi
Cecilia Sofia Anesi in conversation with Claudio Cordova, author of I Padroni della ’Ndrangheta (Newton Compton Editori, 2026)
Presentation and conversation around the book, focusing on the portrayal of criminal organisations, life stories, systems of power and the narrative forms that make a complex phenomenon readable.
I padroni della ’Ndrangheta. Malacarne, una saga criminale (The Masters of the ’Ndrangheta. Malacarne, a criminal saga) uses the form of the novel to get inside the deep mechanisms of mafia power. Claudio Cordova builds a story in which silence, loyalty, hierarchies, family ties and control of the territory become parts of a system that changes without losing continuity. In conversation with Cecilia Sofia Anesi, the book opens a discussion on the relationship between storytelling and investigation, on how to tell the story of a criminal organisation from the inside, and on what literature can reveal when it tries to convey not only the facts, but also the rules, codes and forms of power that make them possible.
Una fiaba nera del mediterraneo – Musical reading with Fulvio Accogli and Raffaele Angius
Guests: Fulvio Accogli | Raffaele Angius
Una fiaba nera del Mediterraneo grows out of the flow of the evening and takes up the questions raised by the conversation with Claudio Cordova on criminal power, family continuity and the unwritten rules that run through territories. Fulvio Accogli and Raffaele Angius carry these tensions into a stage form made of voice, writing and original live music, widening the view from Calabria to Sardinia and the Mediterranean. The story moves through belonging, silence, control, memory and the ability of power systems to change together with the places they occupy. Music is part of the drama as narrative material, building together with the words a landscape where news, imagination and territory overlap.
