There is an Italy where countries are depopulating, the population is ageing and the landscape is losing the human touch. It is an empty Italy, which however contains - much more than we think - the future of our country. Lands grappling with climatic transformations, with changes in the world economy, traversed incessantly by flows of humans. From the glittering Occitan valleys of Piedmont to the ancient heart of Sardinia, passing through the warm colours of the central Apennines, in the sandy towns of the Ionian Sea coast, under the continent's largest volcano, among the migrants of Friuli: a journey to the margins of our country, a country much larger and more varied than it represents itself, to discover a space that is still open to the possible.
